Bible references

Bible references link Scripture passages to your note: a single verse, a range, or a whole chapter, with an optional comment. They can attach at note level or to a specific section.

This guide covers adding from the editor, from Search, reading the passage, and offline behavior.

Typical flow after finding a verse:

  1. Search tab → browse or find a passage (reference, keyword, theme…).

  2. On the result, tap Add to a note (not Add to journal if you target a note).

  3. Scripvio lists draft notes only.

    If empty: No draft notes. Create one from the Create tab.

  4. Pick the target note.

  5. Verse placement sheet:

    • Choose whether the reference attaches to the whole note or one of its sections.
    • Reference: verse reminder;
    • Target: Note level (References attached to the note, outside section blocks.) or a listed section;
    • no sections: No sections yet — the verse will be attached at note level.
  6. Tap Add verseVerse added confirmation.

The verse appears under Bible references at the right level.

Without downloaded Bible metadata (books / chapters), structured add from the editor may be blocked:

Without downloaded Bible metadata, structured references cannot be added offline. Type the passage in the note or section text for now, then add a structured reference once online.

Why is “Add to a note” missing or disabled?
You may not be on a draft, or no draft note exists — create one via Create.

Can I add the same verse twice?
Yes (e.g. note + section, or different comments); avoid useless duplicates.

Is end verse required?
No — optional for a range (start only = one verse).

Do references follow section order?
Order within each list (note or section) is what you set by drag-and-drop; independent of section order.
