Create a note

This guide explains how to start a new note in Scripvio: where to tap, what happens at creation, and how to use the editor the first time. Every note starts as a draft; publishing to the Library is a separate step.

Notes — overview · Draft and publish

Three common entry points:

EntryActionResult
Create (bottom tab)+ button → NoteCreates or resumes an untitled draft, then editor
HomeNew note (quick actions)Opens the Create tab (same flow as above)
Library → Notes (empty list)New note buttonSends you to creation when you have no published notes yet

Create hub · Discover Home

  1. Tap the Create tab.
  2. (Optional) Check the Notes segment for existing drafts.
  3. Tap the + button at the bottom right.
  4. In the sheet, tap Note — subtitle: Service or study notes — offline and synced.

Scripvio avoids stacking empty notes:

SituationBehavior
No untitled draftA new note is created → editor
Already two untitled notesWarning → opens one of them instead of a third
Network failure on createCould not create the note — try again online if needed

Limit message: You already have two untitled notes. Give one of them a title before creating another.

Tip: fill in Title / theme early to unlock new creations.

The editor opens with the app bar title Note and a back button (usually to Create or the Library).

The new note is a draft: it appears under Create → Notes, not in the Library until you publish.

Step 3 — Fill in fields (on-screen order)

Section titled “Step 3 — Fill in fields (on-screen order)”

The editor is built for a service or study: general information first, then detail.

  • Top field: Title / theme
  • Placeholder Untitled when empty
  • Required to publish later (Add a title before publishing.)
  • Autosave after a short typing pause (subtle indicator: spinner, check ✓, or error)

Sections and parts

At the bottom of the main card:

  • Heading: Global summary of the note
  • Hint: summarizes the whole sermon or meeting; shorter per-part summaries live in each section above.
  • Rich text editor under Summary of the note

You can start with title and a section, then add the global summary after the service.

Event type, dateSaved when you confirm in the picker
Sections, versesEach block has its own save (see dedicated guides)

Without a connection, changes stay on the device; a banner on note screens may show:

  • No connection. Your changes are saved on this device…
  • Changes are waiting to sync…
  • Syncing with the server…

Offline mode

CaseBehavior
No network when tapping NoteScripvio still creates a local draft (temporary id); sync when back online
Unstable networkLocal create possible, then automatic upload
Structured references (book/chapter)May be limited offline — type the passage in text until online

You can write the whole service offline; publish when online to show the note on another device via the Library.

Create → Notes → tap the note row (title or Untitled).

⋮ menuView read-only — same layout as Library reading, without publishing.

  1. Set a title.
  2. ⋮ menuPublish.
  3. Confirm: The note will appear in the Library…
  4. Success: Note published. — or Publish queued (offline).

Do I need to fill everything before leaving the editor?
No. Autosave and local storage keep the draft.

Does the note show on my other phone immediately?
Only after sync, and especially after publish (the Library lists published content).

Can I create a note from Bible Search?
Search adds verses to an existing draft; create the note first via Create → + → Note.

Why doesn’t Home “New note” open the editor directly?
It opens the Create hub; then use + → Note (same as creating from Create).
