Draft and publish
In Scripvio, a note first lives as a draft (work in progress), then becomes published (your Library reference). Later fixes go through a new draft (new version), then publish again. This guide explains those states in plain language.
→ Create a note · Edit a note · Drafts and published (overview)
Two statuses in one sentence
Section titled “Two statuses in one sentence”| Status | In short | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Work-in-progress version, freely editable | Create → Notes |
| Published | Reference version, read and PDF | Library → Notes |

Section titled “What is a draft?”A draft is a working version of your note:
- you edit title, metadata, sections, references, and summary;
- saving is automatic (and local when offline);
- the editor menu offers Publish and Delete;
- in read preview, the Draft badge shows.
Until you publish, the note does not appear in the Library as published content (it stays in Create).
Several drafts?
Section titled “Several drafts?”- Each new note creates a separate document.
- For an already published note, there is only one version draft at a time per document: if a draft already exists, the app offers Open draft instead of creating another (A draft already exists for this note.).
What is a published note?
Section titled “What is a published note?”A published note is the version shown in the Library:
- comfortable reading (Read screen, Published badge);
- Export PDF and favorite from the Library;
- it is the reference until you publish a newer version.
Publish does not mean « post to the public internet »: it means « fix this version for my account in the Library ». Your notes stay private to your Scripvio account.
First publish (draft → published)
Section titled “First publish (draft → published)”Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”| Condition | Message if missing |
|---|---|
| Title / theme filled in | Add a title before publishing. |
| Connection recommended | Publish may be queued offline |
Body, sections, and verses can grow over time; only the title is required to publish.
-
Open the draft: Create → Notes → tap the note (Note editor).
-
Review content (preview: ⋮ menu → View read-only).
-
⋮ menu → Publish.
-
Confirm the dialog:
Publish note?
The note will appear in the Library. Publishing closes this draft (you can create a new version later). -
Tap Publish in the dialog.
Possible outcomes
Section titled “Possible outcomes”| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Note published. | Success online — Scripvio usually opens Read in the Library |
| Publish queued (offline). | Stored locally; sent when back online |
| Could not publish the note. Try again. | Failure — check connection and retry |
After a successful publish:
- the note appears under Library → Notes;
- it leaves the active draft list in Create (that draft is « closed »);
- you can Export PDF (connection required).
Publish a correction (new version)
Section titled “Publish a correction (new version)”When a note is already published, you do not overwrite the Library version in one tap without a draft step.
- Library → Notes → open the note (Read).
- ⋮ menu → New version…
- Dialog Create a new version? — reminder:
- the Library keeps the old published version;
- the draft appears under Create;
- you publish later to replace the visible version.
- Create new version or Open draft if one already exists.
- Edit the draft → ⋮ menu → Publish (same confirmation, title required).
- The published Library version is updated; the working draft is closed again.
During steps 4–5, two states coexist:
| Where | What you see |
|---|---|
| Library | The previous published version (until you publish the new one) |
| Create → Notes | The draft of the new version |
Why publish?
Section titled “Why publish?”| Need | Without publish | After publish |
|---|---|---|
| Find the note in the catalog | Only via Create (drafts) | Library (search, sort, filters) |
| Dedicated reading | Preview from editor | Optimized Read screen |
| Share as PDF | Limited for local draft | Export as PDF… (published, online) |
| Align multiple devices | Draft sync possible | Clear reference version in Library |
You can keep a draft for a long time (multi-week sermon); publish when that version is « official » for rereading and sharing.
Versions: how to think about them
Section titled “Versions: how to think about them”Scripvio ties each note to a document (lifetime of that note) and versions:
| Concept | User analogy |
|---|---|
| Document | The « file » for your May 18 service |
| Draft | Current working copy (before publish or between publishes) |
| Published version | Snapshot visible in the Library |
| New version | New draft copied from the last publish to fix or extend |
You do not manage version numbers manually: the app offers Publish and New version… at the right time.
Publish and offline
Section titled “Publish and offline”| Situation | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Online | Immediate publish → Note published. |
| Offline | Queued → Publish queued (offline). |
| Back online | Automatic sync (Syncing with the server… banner) |
local_… draft id | Temporary on device; publish often waits until the document exists on the server |
→ Sync
What publish does not change
Section titled “What publish does not change”| Element | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Language of your text | Unchanged (the app does not translate your notes) |
| Account privacy | Still your private space |
| Favorite | Kept; editable in the Library |
| History of old published versions | Not shown as a list in the mobile app — the Library shows the current published version |
Common issues
Section titled “Common issues”| Symptom | Explanation | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Note missing from Library | Still a draft | Create → Publish with a title |
| Publish missing from menu | Already published, no open draft | New version… from Read |
| Published but old text shows | New draft not published yet | Publish the draft in Create |
| Publish queued for a long time | Offline or stuck sync | Go online, open the app, wait for sync |
| Two drafts for one published note | Only one active draft allowed | Use Open draft |
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”Can I « unpublish » back to draft?
The main flow is new version → edit → publish again. There is no simple documented « remove from Library » unpublish action.
Does publish delete my draft?
It closes that draft as active work: it no longer appears in Create as an active draft. Content becomes the published version.
Can I publish with only a title?
Technically yes if the title is set; in practice, add some content for a useful note.
Library: « Drafts only » filter for notes?
Library notes are published-focused. Drafts live under Create → Notes.
Same logic for journal?
Yes (draft → publish → Library Journal segment). See Journal — draft and publish.
