Export PDF and share

PDF export lets you share or archive a published note: the file is generated on the server from the published version (title, metadata, sections, references, summary). This guide covers requirements, steps in the app, and error messages.

Draft and publish · Edit a note

UseExample
Share after a serviceSend sermon notes by message or email
ArchiveSave a file on phone or tablet
PrintOpen the PDF from another app (device-dependent)

The PDF reflects the published Library version, not an unpublished draft (except rare technical cases — see requirements).

ConditionDetail
Published noteVisible under Library → Notes (Published badge in read mode)
InternetPDF generation uses the server (A connection is required to export the PDF.)
Server idA note still only local (local_…) cannot export: Save or sync the note before exporting.
Up-to-date changes (recommended)If local edits are pending, the app offers sync before export

  1. LibraryNotes segment.
  2. Tap a published note.
  3. Read screen (app bar title Read).

Export is not offered from the list or from the draft editor — use read for the published version.

  1. ⋮ menu top right (next to favorite star).
  2. Tap Export as PDF… (PDF icon).
  3. A loading indicator may show in the bar while generating (long notes can take up to about a minute).

If local changes are not uploaded yet:

ButtonEffect

Sync nowRuns sync, then continues if everything is up to date

If sync does not finish: Sync did not finish. Try again.

After download, a sheet asks:

What would you like to do with the PDF?

ActionBehavior
ShareOpens the system share sheet (WhatsApp, Gmail, Drive, etc.) with a .pdf file
Save to device…Opens the native file picker to choose where to save

Save success: PDF saved.

The filename uses the note title (invalid characters replaced, length capped). If no usable title, a default like scripvio-note is used.

Exact layout depends on the server PDF template; in practice it mirrors read content:

  • title and metadata (speaker, location, type, date);
  • global summary;
  • sections (titles, bodies, section summaries);
  • Bible references (per server layout).

Unpublished drafts or unsynced edits are not guaranteed in the file.

Wait for sync after big editsAvoid stale PDF or sync dialog
Check title before exportClearer filename when sharing
Retry on stable Wi‑Fi/4GGeneration can be slow (app allows long receive timeout)

Can I export from the draft editor?
Not via the usual menu: open the published Read screen (Library), or publish first.

Does the PDF include full Bible text for every reference?
The PDF follows server layout. For interactive passage reading, use in-app references (Show passage text).

Export several notes as one PDF?
Not in the current app: one note = one export.

Does export send my note to other Scripvio users?
No. Only you choose destinations with Share. Generation uses your account on the Scripvio server.

I dismissed “What to do with the PDF” — is it lost?
It was not shared or saved; run Export as PDF… again.
