Edit a note

Editing a note is not always the same path: a draft opens directly in the editor; a published Library note is read first, then updated through a new version (working draft). This guide explains both flows and the shared editor.

  2. (Optional) Search or filter (favorites, event type).

  1. Library → Notes.
  2. Tap a published note.
  3. Read screen (app bar Read): summary, sections, references, details — no inline editing here.

Useful Read actions ( menu):

ActionRole
New version…Create or reopen the working draft
Export as PDF…Share / save the published version (needs connection)
  1. ⋮ menuNew version…
  2. Dialog Create a new version? explaining:
    • the Library stays unchanged;
    • the draft appears under Create;
    • you publish later to replace the published version.
  3. Choices:
    • Create new version — when no draft exists yet;
    • Open draft — when a draft already exists (A draft already exists for this note.).

You land in the draft editor (Library route, same Note screen as in Create).

  1. Edit title, metadata, sections, verses, summary.
  2. ⋮ menuPublish (title required).
  3. The published Library version is replaced by the new publish.

Until you publish the draft, the old published version stays in the Library.

The Note screen is the same for a Create draft or a new version from the Library.

Publish only shows while the note is a draft.

For a published note, confirmation is stronger: This note was published. Deletion is permanent… (typed confirmation on some screens).

Deletion removes the note from your account; offline, it may sync later.

Cannot type in a Library noteYou are in ReadNew version…
Publish missingAlready published with no active draft — new version or open draft in Create
Check then error on a fieldNetwork/sync — reconnect, edit the field again
Two drafts for one noteOne version draft at a time — Open draft instead of creating again
Changes missing on other deviceWait for sync; for Library, you must publish

Is there an “Edit” button on Read?
For published notes, use New version… in the menu. Drafts are edited from Create without going through Read first.

Can I change a published title without a new version?
No: editable title and body live in the draft from new version (or the initial draft before first publish).

Do Read and edit show the same content?
Same structure (summary, sections, verses, details). The editor adds inputs and the global summary toolbar.

Can I unpublish?
Not as a simple toggle — use draft workflows or see Draft and publish.
